FOSTER WITH VADA'S ANGELS

Every animal rescued by Vada's Angels starts their journey in a foster home.

Unlike traditional shelters, we do not operate from a facility. Every dog, cat, horse, rabbit, and guinea pig in our care lives with one of our amazing foster families. This allows us to learn about their personality, provide individual care, and prepare them for a successful future in their forever home.

Fostering is one of the most rewarding ways you can help animals in need. Whether you're able to foster for a few weeks or a few months, every foster home creates space for another animal to be rescued.

You provide the love. We provide the support.

WHY FOSTER?

Animals enter rescue for many different reasons. Some have been abandoned, surrendered, neglected, or simply run out of time in a pound.

When an animal enters foster care they are given the opportunity to:

❤️ Feel safe and loved

❤️ Learn how to live in a home environment

❤️ Build confidence and trust

❤️ Recover from medical treatment or surgery

❤️ Develop positive routines and behaviours

❤️ Prepare for their forever family

Many foster carers tell us that fostering is one of the most rewarding things they have ever done.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM OUR FOSTERS

Foster carers play a vital role in helping animals prepare for their forever homes.

Provide A Safe & Loving Home

Our foster animals become part of your family while they are in your care. They should be treated as valued family members and provided with a safe, secure, and loving environment.

All foster properties must have secure fencing suitable for the animal being fostered.

Follow Rescue Guidelines

We ask all foster carers to follow any management, training, or behavioural plans provided by Vada's Angels.

This helps ensure consistency and gives each animal the best chance of success.

Provide Weekly Updates

We love hearing how our foster animals are progressing.

Foster carers are required to provide weekly updates, photos, and videos through our Foster Families Facebook Group and our Foster update form we send out. These updates help us learn more about the animal and create accurate adoption profiles.

Attend Appointments When Needed

Depending on the animal, foster carers may be asked to attend:

• Veterinary appointments

• Training sessions

• Meet and greets

• Adoption events

We understand life can be busy and will always work with you where possible.

Keep Communication Open

If you have concerns, questions, behavioural issues, or simply need advice, we ask that you contact us as soon as possible.

Communication is key to ensuring successful foster placements.

Remember They're Not Yours To Rehome

All foster animals remain under the ownership and care of Vada's Angels while in foster.

All adoption enquiries, meet and greets, and placement decisions are managed through the rescue.

FOSTER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long will I foster for?

Every animal is different. Some may only need a foster home for a few weeks, while others may remain in care for several months.

We will always try to provide an estimate before placement, however rescue can be unpredictable and timelines may change.

Who pays for veterinary care?

Vada's Angels covers approved veterinary expenses through our approved veterinary clinics.

If your foster animal requires medical attention, please contact us first so we can arrange the appropriate care.

Do I need previous experience?

No.

Many of our foster carers are first-time fosters. We provide support and guidance throughout the entire process.

Can I foster if I already have pets?

In many cases, yes.

We carefully assess each foster placement and work with you to find animals that suit your household and existing pets.

Can I choose which animal I foster?

Absolutely.

We work closely with our foster carers to find suitable matches based on experience, lifestyle, family situation, property, and existing pets.

What supplies do I need?

Many foster animals arrive with food, bedding, crates, collars, leads, toys, and other essentials supplied by the rescue or through donations.

What if the foster isn't a good fit?

Sometimes placements don't work out, and that's okay.

If concerns arise, contact us as soon as possible and we will work with you to find a solution.

Can I go away while fostering?

If circumstances change or you have upcoming travel plans, please let us know as soon as possible so we can make alternative arrangements if required.

Can I adopt my foster animal?

Yes.

Many foster carers fall in love with their foster animal. Foster carers are welcome to apply through our standard adoption process.
