Freddy doesn't rush into things - he likes to quietly watch, work things out and decide for himself that everything is okay.
MEET FREDDY
Freddy is a sweet, gentle boy who's come a long way since arriving in foster care. He's naturally a little shy and unsure when faced with something new, but what we love about Freddy is how he handles it.
Rather than reacting, barking or trying to escape, Freddy tends to sit back and quietly observe until he's comfortable. Give him time, and you'll see a completely different dog begin to emerge. Pasted markdown
Once he feels safe, Freddy is playful, affectionate and loves spending time with other dogs.
LIFE WITH FREDDY
Other dogs are where Freddy really comes alive.
He's social and playful with them and seems to take a huge amount of confidence from having another dog beside him. He watches what they do, follows their lead and uses them to help understand unfamiliar situations. Because of this, we'd really like Freddy's new home to have another suitable, confident dog. He's also wonderful around cats - mostly because he appears to have decided they simply don't exist! His foster reports no interest in chasing or interacting with them.
Freddy has been fantastic with children in foster care, including living alongside a very energetic five-year-old. He's patient and seems to have quickly learnt that kids are safe people. Pasted markdown
FREDDY'S PERFECT HOME
Freddy needs a home where he won't be pressured to become confident overnight.
Busy outdoor environments, traffic, loud noises and unfamiliar sounds can still make him nervous. He's gradually being exposed to everyday life and making excellent progress, but his future family will need to continue helping him experience the world at his own pace.
A quieter suburban home or rural property could suit him beautifully, particularly with another confident dog to show him the ropes.
A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
Freddy is fully toilet trained at home, crate comfortable, travels beautifully in the car and already knows several basic cues. He also walks very well on lead and has good recall most of the time. Pasted markdown
Being alone without another dog is much harder for him. He can cry and bark when separated, whereas he's reportedly an angel when left with another dog. This is another reason we think a canine companion will be particularly important for Freddy.
Noise and traffic are currently his biggest challenges. He can become too uncomfortable to toilet in busy environments and will sometimes wait until he's back somewhere he considers safe. Pasted markdown
FREDDY'S FUTURE
Freddy doesn't need someone to drag him out of his shell.
He needs people - and preferably a four-legged friend - who'll show him that the world is safe and give him the time to discover it for himself.
Once he does, there's a very sweet, playful and affectionate boy waiting underneath.
