Meet D'Nita

D’Nita came to us frightened of the world - now she’s discovering just how good life can be when you have people you trust beside you.

MEET D’NITA
D’Nita was found dumped, scared and nervous of almost everything around her.
Since going into foster care, this beautiful girl has absolutely flourished. Little by little, she’s learnt that she’s safe, people can be kind and life doesn’t have to be quite so scary.
Underneath that once-nervous puppy is an incredibly affectionate girl who loves nothing more than being close to her person. Snuggles are very high on D’Nita’s list of priorities, and once she forms that bond, she really does love being with you.

LIFE WITH D’NITA
D’Nita has made fantastic progress in foster care and is continuing to learn every day.
She’s good with other dogs, children and has also been good around livestock. Cats haven’t been properly assessed yet, so we’re keeping that one as unknown for now.
She walks well on lead, travels well and has a lovely medium energy level.
D’Nita is still working on her toilet and crate training, so her future family will need to continue reinforcing everything she’s learning.

D’NITA’S PERFECT HOME
D’Nita needs people who understand that the confidence she has today has been built through patience and consistency - and that work needs to continue.
She’s incredibly people-oriented and does currently experience some separation anxiety. We’re already working through this with her, but her adopter will need to be committed to continuing that training and gradually helping D’Nita learn that being apart from her people is okay too.
She won’t suit a home expecting her to suddenly be comfortable spending long periods alone.
A home where she can be included in everyday life, continue building her independence and receive plenty of positive guidance would suit her beautifully.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
D’Nita is still young and has plenty of growing and learning ahead of her.
She’s made enormous progress from the frightened girl who first came into care, but separation anxiety isn’t something we want an adopter to ignore or simply hope disappears.
Her new family will need to continue the work her foster has started, building independence gradually while giving her the security and consistency she needs.
In return, expect plenty of affection.
This girl LOVES her people.

D’NITA’S FUTURE
Being dumped may be where D’Nita’s story with us started, but it certainly doesn’t get to define where it ends.
She’s already shown us how much she can change when someone gives her patience, safety and love.
Now she needs a family willing to keep showing her that she never has to face the world alone again - while also teaching her that it’s okay when her humans occasionally leave the room.
